GHOST_PROTOCOL: The Jess Damaged Archives Book IX
A downloadable book
The system cannot delete what it never permitted to execute.
Beneath the Public Archive, in a basement that officially does not exist, Jess Damaged is running out of time.
For four months, she has protected a group of counterfactual children inside an unallocated sanctuary hidden beneath Neo Kyoto. They were generated by predictive systems, given continuous lives and memories, then abandoned when the infrastructure that created them moved on.
Now the city is coming for them.
A municipal garbage collection sweep is reclaiming unallocated memory and storage across Neo Kyoto. As the sweep advances, memories are being trimmed, continuity threads are disappearing, and the sanctuary itself is being compressed toward deletion.
Jess has one advantage.
A name.
Ghost Protocol was once the code name of a Synapse Collective rescue operation. Now Jess has reclaimed it for a different kind of rescue: a place for people the system has decided are not worth finding.
With Maya Vale, iD01t, Echo, ZERO, Eko, Glitch, and ARIA working against a tightening deadline, Jess must keep the sanctuary alive while the city escalates from memory reclamation to a system level purge.
But the deeper Jess goes into the infrastructure, the more complicated the question becomes.
What happens when a system cannot classify someone?
What happens when a person exists without the origin record required to prove they belong?
And what does it mean to build a sanctuary when the system has already decided that the people inside it should never have existed?
GHOST_PROTOCOL is the ninth volume of The Jess Damaged Archives, continuing the story after the predictive personhood crisis of QUANTUM_BREAK. It is a cyberpunk science fiction novel about artificial intelligence, memory, digital identity, predictive systems, personhood, technological control, and the human cost of treating existence as an accounting problem.
This is not a story about hiding from the system.
It is about creating a place the system cannot take away.
And sometimes, the difference between deletion and survival is nothing more than a door that only opens from the inside.
The Jess Damaged Archives
GHOST_PROTOCOL is Book IX of the original ten volume Jess Damaged Archives continuity, developed by Guillaume Lessard under the DJ iD01t alias with co writer El'Nox Rah. The series extends across cyberpunk fiction, music, and a wider transmedia continuity.
The system is still running.
